Prevention of radicalisation and violent extremism

Prevention of radicalisation and violent extremism

Radicalisation is a process by which persons are persuaded to take increasingly extreme political, social or religious measures, potentially even the use of extreme violence, to achieve their goals.

Violent extremist activities are efforts by organisations that reject constitutional and democratic principles and which commit, incite or endorse acts of violence in order to achieve their goals.

If you as a parent, relative, friend, teacher or supervisor of children, teenagers and young adults have any questions or if you have any indications that a person has become radicalised and might even commit, incite or endorse acts of violence to achieve their goals, you can call the specialist contact point(s) in your canton of residence. These agencies can act preventively and offer support in relation to violence prevention, extremism and radicalisation.
