Topics of the Swiss Security Network

The bodies of the Swiss Security Network are concerned with inner security issues and focus particularly on interfaces and collaboration between the Confederation and the cantons.

The bodies of the Swiss Security Network are concerned with security policy issues involving both Confederation and cantons. The goal is to find a consensus and to satisfy coordination requirements more efficiently.

A topic is addressed if at least one of the following requirements is met:

  • If the topic has a strategic dimension with political implications relating to security policy
  • If coordination is called for between the Confederation and the cantons in a security policy issue.

The following topics are currently being pursued or processed:

  • Collaboration with the cantons in implementing the ‘national strategy for the protection of Switzerland against cyber risks’
  • Coordination of major exercises and planning of future security network exercises (SNE)
  • National action plan to prevent and counter radicalisation and violent extremism
  • Secure mobile communications for authorities and organisations for Rescue and Security
  • Cooperation of civilian authorities and armed forces
  • Monitoring of strategic recommendations of the 2014 Security Network Exercise (SNE).
